Basically, for those who are wondering what's going on with WWS: In short, our host decided to pull the plug on us because apparently our database is overloading their servers. They took our entire database offline and "restricted it" so that I have no access to it whatsoever. This, of course, was all done without any prior notification, warning, or communication to me. I came home from work and thought that WWS had been hacked and our entire database had been deleted. And then, when I checked my email and saw a message from IX in my inbox, I put two and two together and proceeded to spiral off into a dimension of pissed-off I haven't been to in many, many years.

Right now, Sarah ([livejournal.com profile] ravnwolf) and I are working on obtaining a copy of our database files from our host. Once we get those, we'll figure out what to do from there.

Please see http://wws.sentirai.net/ for news updates on our progress with this issue.

[livejournal.com profile] jods, I'm sorry I never got around to contacting you like I said I would. Things have just been an insane, chaotic mess since I got home from work and I just didn't have a chance. <333

Hey Houkie <3 I don't know if this will eat the server up more or not, but since Beast is closed down I can open an OOC chat forum for the members of WWS to occupy themselves on and keep in touch ect ect until you get something figured out with this whole deal. If that helps?

You're more than welcome to do that if you want to. Beast occupies a separate database of its own, so it shouldn't hurt us. :)

Excellent. I'll get something set up asap so everyone at least has somewhere to converse and such for now. I'll get a comment posted over at the update site just as soon as I get something worked out.

Hey up, Houkie. Just a long shot, but I was able to access Myth from my workplace, which is government funded so probably has all official servers and things, even though Myth is completely unaccessible from home as of yesterday. I remember a similar thing happening from White's university when Myth was down once before and we could access it from there, but not from home.

Have you tried going to your local university with a big memory stick and trying to access it from there? Or a government institute of some kind, if they'll let you in, but that's probably not on the cards, lol.

If I might be able to do anything to help, I could try biking in to work tomorrow or on Monday and accessing WWS for you. But I'm not expecting you'd really want some strange English person fiddling around with that kind of thing, lol. Offer's there though if you're desperate. Hope this all gets sorted out soon! If WWS is anything like Myth ATM, the stuff's all there, but it just takes the right network to access it.

Hi John,

Despite the fact that WWS was pulled offline back in July, Myth remained up and fine because it runs on a separate database from WWS. The only reason you can't see it right now is because I purchased a new host for us yesterday and changed the DNS on the salvajewolves.net domain so it could be transferred to the new host. Myth will remain down for the next few days while we're getting everything transferred over from my old host to my new one, but after that, all should be well. :3

Thankfully, I did manage to get a copy of our database from my old host after they pulled the plug on us.

Thanks very much for replying and offering your suggestion of going to a big university -- I might try that if the need arises again in the future! :)

Aahhh, I get you, I didn't know that. That's excellent news about getting a new host, I hope it isn't causing you too much hassle. *Nods* Glad it's all looking good and we'll be up and running again shortly.
